Vice President's Key Message

Hazrin Hasan, VP GAS

Dear Valued Readers,

The first half of 2026 has witnessed sustained progress for MISC as we continue to strengthen our role as a reliable and responsible partner in global gas shipping.

Our focus remains on delivering safe and reliable performance and creating long-term value for our partners and stakeholders as the operating environment continues to evolve.

During this period, we achieved several key milestones that reflect the strength of our partnerships, the dedication of our people and the resilience of our operations.

One of the key highlights was the naming of two new-generation LNG Carriers (LNGCs), Seri Dian and Seri Dayang on 7 May at Hanwha Ocean Co. Ltd. These vessels reflect our continued commitment to operational excellence, future-ready LNG capabilities and long-standing partnerships that continue to strengthen Malaysia’s presence in the global LNG landscape. I would like to extend my appreciation and congratulations to everyone involved in delivering this project safely and successfully.

We also secured of long-term charter agreements with PETRONAS and shipbuilding contracts with Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co. Ltd. for five new LNGCs. This milestone reinforces our shared commitment towards strengthening Malaysia’s LNG and maritime ecosystem, while supporting the nation’s long-term energy ambitions through reliable and future-ready LNG transportation capabilities.

At the same time, MISC was awarded its first Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) project for Malaysia’s Third Regasification Terminal (RGT3), marking our entry into the FSRU segment. Building on our strong experience across LNGCs, Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs) and Floating Storage Units (FSUs), this milestone reflects our continued expansion in floating gas infrastructure and our readiness to support evolving energy needs.

Strong performance is built on strong teams. As we progress through 2026, collaboration, shared accountability, and trust across shipboard and shore-based teams remain central to how we operate safely and consistently.

During this period, I had the opportunity to visit a few vessels including Aman Sendai and Seri Emperor, as well as engage with the Marine Services’ Project Management Team at Samsung Heavy Industries. These engagements provided valuable opportunities to listen, learn, and reinforce our collective commitment to upholding the principles of Care & Comply and operational excellence.

Looking ahead, we will continue to balance growth with resilience by strengthening our fleet, deepening strategic partnerships and advancing operational capabilities that supports a safer and more sustainable energy future for Malaysia and beyond.
