MISC MANAGES MIHZEM & IDD AL SHARGI UNDER QATARENERGY CONSORTIUM

In the world of energy transportation, progress is rarely achieved in isolation. It is built through strong partnerships and a collective belief in what the future can be.
MISC Berhad together with its consortium partners Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK), Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (K-LINE) and China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Limited (CLNG), celebrated the naming of two new generation Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers, Mihzem and Idd Al Shargi.
Mihzem and Idd Al Shargi mark a special milestone for MISC as the first vessels under the QatarEnergy LNG expansion programme to be managed by MISC's Marine Services. Their delivery reflects the confidence placed in MISC’s proven capability to operate complex and large-scale assets safely and efficiently, supported by decades of maritime experience and culture of safety and reliability.
Their completion marks another step forward in MISC’s #deliveringProgress strategy, which focuses on delivering more energy with less emissions. Aligned with the Group strategy's Resilient Core pillar, these new-generation LNG carriers demonstrate MISC’s commitment to strengthen its foundation through fleet modernisation and the transition to eco-efficient vessels, ensuring long-term resilience and sustainable value creation for our stakeholders.
Constructed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., they are the fifth and sixth vessels to join the consortium’s fleet of twelve LNG carriers that are chartered by QatarEnergy LNG. Beyond their technical sophistication, they represent the expertise and strength of collaboration across nations.
Their names, inspired by Qatar’s historic energy fields, symbolise discovery, perseverance and progress. As they embark on their new journeys, Mihzem and Idd Al Shargi carry the same spirit of partnership that defines MISC’s collaboration with QatarEnergy and its consortium partners.
Together, they carry not only the promise of energy delivered safely and responsibly, but also the shared vision of a maritime industry that moves forward through innovation, care and collective purpose.

MISC WELCOMES FOUR NEW LNG CARRIERS

MISC Berhad is proud to celebrate another milestone in delivering safe, efficient and sustainable energy solutions. Between May and August 2025, four new Liquefied Natural Gas carriers were successfully delivered as part of the landmark QatarEnergy LNG shipbuilding programme.
The successful delivery of Al Tuwar, Al Mas’habiyyah, Al Zuwair and Fat’h Al Khair represents a significant achievement for MISC and its global partners. This programme, recognised as one of the largest in LNG shipping history, reflects our collective commitment to energy security and sustainability.
With a capacity of 174,000 CBM, these vessels are designed to meet the world’s growing demand for safe, reliable and energy-efficient LNG transportation. At the core of the design is the GTT NO96 LO3+ cargo containment system, which provides enhanced insulation and reduces the boil-off rate to 0.098% of cargo volume per day, significantly improving efficiency. Together with a Cargo Tank Gas Pocket design that improves vapour space management and a reliquefaction plant that recycles excess gas, these features ensures that cargo is preserved efficiently throughout the operations.
Key Deliveries:
- Al Tuwar – Delivered on 16 May 2025 at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard, Shanghai, as the first vessel in this series of twelve LNG carriers.
- Al Mas’habiyyah – Delivered on 30 July 2025, also at Hudong-Zhonghua, and the sister vessel of Al Tuwar.
- Al Zuwair – Delivered on 18 August 2025 at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Ulsan, South Korea, the first vessel in the series built at HHI.
- Fat’h Al Khair – Delivered on 25 August 2025 at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard, Shanghai.
These accomplishments reflect the strength of collaboration between MISC, QatarEnergy, China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Limited (CLNG), Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK), and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (K-Line). Together, we are building a future of safe and sustainable energy transport.
